Summary
As many of you know, SRL personnel such as Emilio, Brennan, and Ed have been critical to maintaining council operations since the inception of the DAO. They have contributed to maintaining council documentation, interfacing with the foundation, and drafting council proposals as invited guests of @John Crain. We propose that the council form a new structure called the DAO Operations Stewardship Team and empower this team to continue the excellent work that they have already been doing while also making it possible for non-SRL employees to get involved. Ultimately, creating a formal structure under the DAO through which this work happens creates more transparency and opportunities for community participation.
How does it work?
If the linked council proposal passes, the following will happen:
- The DAO Ops team will be established with the following properties
- At least one lead steward, appointable and removable by council vote, will be responsible for manage the DAO Ops team.
- The lead steward(s) may add and remove stewards, though the council must be noticed and may object.
- The council can establish, modify, or eliminate compensation for individual stewards through a proposal and majority vote.
- The DAO Ops team will initially be composed of:
- @Brennan Mulligan serving as lead steward
- @Edward Yu and @Emilio Cazares serving as stewards
- Stewards will have the right to:
- Attend general Council meetings
- Develop and introduce internal Council proposals
- Access and contribute to all Council documentation
- Coordinate with the RareDAO Foundation
- Moderator or admin access on relevant governance venues
- Seek reimbursement for gas fees incurred in fulfillment of their duties
- Take meeting minutes for general Council meetings and publish them subject to the procedures and exceptions described in the bylaws
- Research and develop partnerships and tooling solutions for the purposes of improving meta-governance and DAO operations
- @Emilio Cazares will be paid 30,000 RARE per month, starting when this proposal is passed
- Emilio has left SuperRare Labs to start his own legal practice, but remains committed to the development of the SuperRare DAO and wishes to assist the council in:
- (i) initially setting up more efficient and transparent documentation systems;
- (ii) motivate and establish processes between the Council and the Foundation that make it easier for the DAO to pay operating expenses;
- (iii) assist in the development of a more clearly defined governance process; and
- (iv) generally developing DAO strategy and policy and the community level.
- Due to their ongoing employment at SuperRare, Ed and Brennan are not asking for any compensation.
- This team shall operate under the next three (3) months, at which point the DAO Ops stewards shall convene with the council to review the existing framework and revise it accordingly.
What are our goals?
This group will work very closely with the Council on on-going governance topics for the DAO such as:
- Observing, maintaining, and improving existing DAO governance procedures including but not limited to DAO operations and coordination with the Foundation, SuperRare Labs, and the community
- Establishing better tooling for more effective on-chain organization, governance, and administration of the DAO
- General support of and coordination with the SRL Protocol team in the development of on-chain governance, staking, multi-list model, and related "art legos"
- Participation in community governance discussion to help educate the community on SuperRare DAO developments, discuss policy, and to create more opportunities for community member participation
Our Immediate Goals:
- Developing a plan for Council elections/appointments in August
- Revising and clarifying SIP procedures
