Both of these endeavors require significant attention and coordination. Due to the high impact on forum and public channels required for both processes, I recommend that we do not conduct them simultaneously. We are then left with choosing which to carry out first. I see advantages on both sides.
Option 1: September Election, October Rebrand
Proposed Timeline:
- Announce election process and publish profile template following council meeting on August 24th
- Nominations window September 6th - 13th
- Election runs from September 13 - 20th
- Joint council meeting and transition of power September 28th
- At this meeting, introduce bylaws change to facilitate rebrand as the first agenda item for the new council
- Async voting for rebranding proposal concludes October 12th
- Rebranding executed on October 26th
Pros:
- Minimizing extra length of current council terms, public announcement follows shortly after deadline to schedule
- Provide an “easy win” for new council to gain momentum
- More time to make sure that SRL can support the transition from forum.superrare.com → forum.rare.xyz, allows time for additional content creation and marketing around the brand transition
Cons:
- Less time to iron out all the wrinkles with election process and content
- New council may have less context around rebrand and it could feel like a forced agenda item rather than blank canvas
- Missed opportunity for RARE branding to accrue value as momentum gathers around staking in September (if approved)
Option 2: September Rebrand, October Election
